SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES:

Dr. Emmet Keeffe is Professor of Medicine, Chief of Hepatology and Co-Director of the Liver Transplant Program at Stanford University Medical Center. He obtained his MD degree from Creighton University and completed postgraduate training at the Oregon Health & Science University and University of California, San Francisco. He is a past-president of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He serves on the editorial boards of Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics. His research interests include antiviral therapy of chronic hepatitis B and C, use of hepatitis vaccines, and liver transplant selection criteria and outcomes. He has published more than 450 papers, book chapters and miscellaneous publications, and lectures widely at national and international scientific meetings, postgraduate courses, and miscellaneous CME activities.

Barbara Boughton has been writer and editor specializing in medicine for over 20 years. She's currently managing editor at INR/Biomed, a small publishing company in Concord, California, which publishes CME booklets and books for health professionals. As a freelance writer, she's also contributed to publications such as Consumer Reports, CBS Healthwatch, Psychiatric Times, and the Lancet Oncology. She's been a contributing writer for two consumer health books, published by Time Inc. and Meredith Corp.

Lydia Green, RPh is currently Managing Editor, CME, at Epocrates, the leading provider of mobile software for physicians. A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Lydia has over 20 years of experience developing creative, strategic and tactical programs for the pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology industries. She has held senior- level positions at several New York and California medical advertising agencies and at Epocrates, including Creative Director, Pharmaceutical Services and Director of Corporate Communications.
